We had a great question during our Ask Dr.Robyn show about the connection between migraines and estrogen levels during perimenopause and menopause.

Head discomfort and other physical changes are commonly reported by women during the menopause transition, and hormonal fluctuations are often part of the picture. Estrogen shifts during perimenopause and menopause can affect how some women feel day to day. During perimenopause, estrogen can spike and crash unpredictably — and many women notice their overall sense of well-being shifts during these fluctuations, particularly those who are already sensitive to hormonal changes. Once menopause fully arrives and hormone levels settle at a lower, more consistent level, these experiences often ease — but that rocky transition phase can be a headache in more ways than one.
