Chronic Stress & Cortisol
06/04/2025

Dr Robyn Kutka explains how chronic stress can affect cortisol levels over time. She also talks about how you can measure your levels using Salivary Hormone Testing.

Chronic stress keeps the body in a constant state of “fight or flight,” leading to prolonged elevation of cortisol—the primary stress hormone. While short bursts of cortisol help us respond to immediate threats, consistently high levels can disrupt sleep, suppress immunity, increase belly fat, and cause brain fog, irritability, and anxiety. Over time, the body may even start to produce less cortisol, leaving you feeling exhausted and burned out. If stress feels never-ending and your energy is crashing, your cortisol rhythm might be out of sync.
