Top Ten Questions to Ask Your Doc
05/13/2026

When it comes to medical care in menopause - the spectrum can vary wildly... We hear from women who tell is that they heard: 'it's all in their head', to 'just deal with it', or 'just use more lube', or some combination of idiocy that would be funny if it weren't our health (and our sanity) on the line.

In fact, only a fraction of doctors have any kind of specialized menopause training, and a lot of menopause research is woefully outdated. Thankfully, we're trying to change that, which is why we have an entire page dedicated to the latest menopause research and science!

But, the other thing you can do is advocate for yourself (and future generations of women!), by researching, reading, and being prepared! Below is a list of ten questions you can take to your doctor to make sure you leave that appointment feeling informed and supported — and to make things even easier, we've included a PDF you can print and bring along.

The Questions

  1. What are my options for addressing the changes I've been noticing?
  2. Which changes I'm experiencing might shift over time, and what new ones might I notice?
  3. What are the hormone changes I may experience during this stage of life?
  4. What are my options for supporting my overall wellness during this stage of life?
  5. What can I do with my food choices to support my health and how I feel day to day?
  6. What lifestyle factors should I be mindful of to support my long-term well-being?
  7. What are my options for supporting better sleep?
  8. What type of movement or exercise is good for my bones?
  9. How can I make sure I still have plenty of energy for the things I love to do?
  10. What routine check-ins would you recommend to help me stay on top of my health?

Remember, there is nothing wrong with getting a second opinion — if your doc isn't listening and advocating for you, or their advice doesn't sit right, seek another professional opinion. You deserve a doctor who takes you seriously.
